Exmoor Beneath The Landscape - A Novel
The adventures of a young geologist specialising in the detection of Copper minerals. Employed by an established British company, involved in prospecting for many years, his career moves between international exploration, regional investigation and overseas conferences. Disasters and near disasters impact his life. His focus moves to Exmoor and the identification of Rare Earth minerals. The ones highly valued for advanced modern technologies. He realises the need to expand his knowledge of these recently discovered elements, particularly how they can be extracted from their source minerals. The future of Britain’s advanced industries are heavily dependent on the unusual metals and their amazing properties.
Interaction with all manner of characters leads him to come across badly conceived science projects and constructed secrecy. Trying to juggle his love life with professional responsibilities conjures up a balance between marital stability and exciting opportunities. The story follows a chronology through his mid-twenties. The underground world is hidden from the lives of many people but it provides suitable cover for irregular activities, and very big money.

Cornubia to Tundra - A Sequel Novel to Exmoor Beneath the Landscape
The story of the adventurous life of Mark Scott who works for a fictional prospecting company called Chalco. It has an established reputation for finding Copper minerals that can be processed into metal. As the company embarks on the move into the much more intricate task of finding Rare Earth minerals, those essential for modern technologies, Mark Scott is their principal specialist.
The culture of investment funding provides an intriguing financial climate for the prospecting geologists and the multi-national companies that are entwined in the complex world of East West political and financial supremacy.
After Exmoor the story focuses upon Cornubia, the mineral rich granite batholith that underlies much of Cornwall and Devon. Its long history of providing Tin and Copper over hundreds of years has created a mining legacy in South West England that has spread all around the world.
Chalco receives a discreet commission from the European Union to examine the prospects for Rare Earth elements that are believed to exist in the Tundra regions of Northern Latitudes. A challenging landscape and made more difficult by political, social and economic tensions.
The story is impacted by problems of digital communication technologies. The ones that are driven by all manner of deviant operators, national and criminal.
Balancing career events with family responsibilities is ever present for Mark Scott.
